Characteristics and application of S32101 (1.4162, X2CrMnNiN21-5-1) duplex stainless steel:

2101 is a nitrogen-containing duplex stainless steel that provides high strength and good resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking. This duplex steel has 50% ferrite and 50% austenite. Manganese ensures a corresponding balance between austenite and ferrite and reduces the nickel content. The combination of dual-phase structure and a certain N content make the final tensile strength reach 94Ksi (650MPa) compared with 70Ksi (480MPa) of 316 steel. Compared with 217H.Br. hardness of 316 steel, the hardness of 2101 steel can reach 290H.Br., and its corrosion resistance is better than 304L steel, which is equivalent to 316L steel. The microstructure of 2101 steel can make it have very good resistance to intergranular corrosion, and it has better uniform corrosion resistance in sulfuric acid than 304L steel. In some cases, it has good performance like 316L steel. .
