Hastelloy B-2 (Hastelloy) Overview
Hastelloy B-2 has the following features
● Control iron and chromium at the lowest content to prevent the formation of β phase Ni4Mo
● Excellent corrosion resistance to reducing environment
● Excellent resistance to moderate concentration of sulfuric acid and many non-oxidizing acids
● Excellent resistance to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking (SCC)
● Excellent resistance to various organic acids

Hastelloy B-2 Physical Properties
HastelloyB-2 density
Density ρ = 9.2g / cm3
HastelloyB-2 melting temperature range
Melting temperature range 1330 ~ 1380 ℃
Hastelloy B-2 welding
Hastelloy B-2 can use tungsten electrode shielded gas welding (GTAW / TIG) or gas shielded arc welding (SMAW / MMA) in specific environments.
The material to be welded should be annealed to remove scale, oil stains and various marks. The area of the base metal on both sides of the weld, about 25 mm wide, must be polished to bright metal.
Hastelloy B-2 has a lower thermal conductivity than steel. When a single V-shaped welding interface is used, the angle should be 70 °, with a low heat input, and the interlayer temperature should not exceed 120 ° C.
The oxidation color can be removed while the weld is still hot.
Some applications require post-weld heat treatment to eliminate residual stress and improve stress corrosion cracking resistance.
In order to obtain the best corrosion resistance, argon arc welding, that is, tungsten electrode inert gas shielded welding GTAW is recommended.
